Samantha awaits fate in a dirty, crowded cell
SAMANTHA Jones sleeps in a filthy cell with 12 other women as she awaits her trial. Lawyer Sangeet has visited her several times and her family have also been regularly. Sangeet said when she first saw her in the police lock-up last month, “she looked like a disaster. She was distraught.
“She was sitting on the floor… with her head in her knees. She was crying and was saying, ‘I don’t know what’s happening.’ ”
After Samantha was charged, she was moved to Pokok Sena prison on the mainland.
Conditions are filthy, she sleeps on a concrete floor in a packed, stifling cell. “She is better but still lost lost. She’s torn,” said Sangeet.
“She knows she’s a victim but she still loves him.”
