Care firm in 5-fig payout over failings
Hubby Paddy LET DOWN Mrs Bretton A CARE home firm made a five-figure payout to an ex-resident’s grieving family after admitting failings.
Dementia sufferer Christina Bretton, 76, was found semi-conscious a week after moving in to the Denby care home in 2016.
She was moved from the site in Denby Dale, near Huddersfield, to the firm’s nearby home in Oakes.
A week later she went into hospital with an infection and dehydration.
Christina died nine months later, aged 77, under a new care provider.
Her daughter Kathryn Bretton said: “My mother was let down. She walked into the home talking and able to feed herself.”
Meridian Healthcare said: “We did not deliver the high level of service we normally strive for.”
