■ I’ll Get This on BBC2 is a brilliant realitybased comedy show that provides plenty of laughs. Getting a bunch of celebs together at a restaurant and making them play fun games, with the loser having to pay the bill, is a great concept. And with stars from the world of comedy (Julian Clary, above), entertainment, music and sport, the conversations vary from hilarious to ridiculous. It’s important the Beeb keeps making lighthearted shows at this time of year when we are cold and down.

■ Why oh why should we be excited about the Christmas TV schedules? Is it not just the same old, same old, except the remake of the remake of Les Miserables? And why have more cooking programmes over the festive period when we need shows to make us feel joyful?
