Digital Monday, disc Dec 10 Jason Statham tackles a 75-foot prehistoric shark, kicking butt and saving lives in equal order.

OK, so perhaps the film could have done with a little more humour and a sense of irony, but then this is a good, old-fashioned, internationally cast creature feature that is all about daring escapes, submarine chases and action silliness rather than Oscar-winning dialogue.

Statham – a real-life former diver – is at ease doing all things aquatic, and while Chinese star Bingbing Li is good as an oceanographer, best of all is Ruby Rose (of Orange is the New Black fame) as tough engineer Jaxx. Disc Monday
