BOTTOM CLUB ARE GETTING ‘ONE OF THE WORLD’S BEST PLAYERS... IT’S A NICE MUTUAL BALANCE’
SOL CAMPBELL told Macclesfield Town fans they have a boss “who has been one of the best players in the world”.

(left), taking his first job in management at League Two’s bottom club, is
convinced he has what it takes to be a success.
“I know football inside out, I know how to manage people, I know how to communicate,” said the former Tottenham and Arsenal defender, who has 73 England caps. “It’s a great place for me to start.
“I know Macclesfield fans will probably think, ‘What’s going on here?’ But you have got an international footballer who has been one of the best players in the world coming to your club. I think there’s a nice mutual balance there. There’s give and take.”
Campbell, 44, had criticised a lack of opportunities for black coaches in English football, and while he was confident in his first public engagement, he was not arrogant, thanking the side 92nd in the football pyramid for his first chance.
“I’m honoured to be here and I’ll work my socks off,” he said. “It’s a great club.”
