- BY STEPHEN WHITE

JAILED Abulkasem A BRITISH student faces a spying trial in Egypt after he was accused of snapping a military helicopter.

Relatives of Muhammed Fathi Abulkasem, 19, say he was detained on arrival at Alexandria airport after taking a photograph out of the window of his plane.

The Manchester student is being held in an Egyptian jail, his family say.

They are calling for the government and politicians to help his release.

Muhammed arrived in Egypt from Libya, where he was caring for an elderly relative, on November 21.

But the visit was flagged as suspicious and the photo was found after his bag was searched.

His mum Imaan Rafiq said: “My baby Muhammed would not even hurt a fly, he is a big soft teddy.”
