‘Anne wanted to highlight autism.. she will be delighted at response’

-

ANNE Hegerty’s brother says she went into the jungle to increase public understanding about Asperger’s, and will be “proud” of viewers’ reaction.

The Chase star, 60, who has been praised by The National Autistic Society, struggled at the start, but has now come into her own.

Her brother Jon said: “There’s been a real positive reaction to Anne being on the show. One of the reasons she went on was to raise awareness of autism. I think people misunderstand Asperger’s, but people are seeing her for who she is. “She is a really good person. I think Anne will be proud, overwhelmed and really surprised. Being here this long will be a real victory for her.

“She has really pushed herself in all the trials. I’ve been impressed – it’s so far outside her comfort zone.”

Anne Hegerty and her brother Jon Won immunity, did bird impressions and made the tees more fashionable.

Not bad at all. Took the trials all for himself to win immunity in Rancid Race event – but at what cost? A great solo effort in the velodrome won her a place to stay on the show. A member of Team Galahs so lives to fight another day. Will be thrilled not to be first out. Another star who might have feared an early exit but escaped thanks to immunity. Got a bit annoyed for the first time. We reckon he would show Nick red card, given chance. Finally talking about cosmic ordering. But will that win him votes?

Blobbably not. She struggled with the challenges. It will bug her if she goes out soon though. Didn’t take trials too seriously – and we don’t want everyone to be ultra-serious. Not ruled out on medical grounds but still didn’t last long in the trials once again. He’s been nice and polite but if this was a gig line-up he has very much been a support act.
