Uni’s ban on boozy rituals
A UNIVERSITY has banned initiation ceremonies and warned organisers could be expelled.
Newcastle University has put new protocols in place since the boozerelated death of 20-yearold student Ed Farmer.
A spokesman said: “It is made very clear to all clubs and societies that initiations are banned by the university and constitute serious misconduct.”
Ed’s father Jeremy this week called for students involved in “coercive” rituals to be kicked out.
