The 1987 Pogues hit with Kirsty MacColl beat Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas Is You with Wham’s Last Christmas in the Magic Radio poll.

Band Aid’s Do They Know It’s Christmas was fourth.

Coinciding research found Christmas music puts nearly half of Brits in a festive mood.

The station said: “When it comes to putting people in the Christmas spirit, music is king.”
