HUGHES: WHY DID THE REF NOT SPOT THIS?
WILL HUGHES is still cross about the penalty incident which has driven Watford to distraction all week.
The Hornets were holding Liverpool 0-0 after 55 minutes when Hughes was caught in the box by Andy Robertson’s challenge (right), only for referee
Jon Moss and his linesman to turn a blind eye.
Watford went on to lose 3-0 and Hughes insists Moss should have awarded a penalty or booked him for diving.
He said: “I spoke to him during the game. There was definite contact, it wasn’t a dive. If he did think I dived, he should have booked me because other players do get away with it.
“For me, it’s got to be a penalty or a dive, one way or the other.”
Hornets boss Javi Gracia is determined to clear his midfielder of being a diver as they go to the King Power on the back of only one point in their last three games.
Gracia said: “I couldn’t believe it. I know Will Hughes and I don’t have any doubt there was contact in that play.”
