May exit plan

THERESA May should start preparing a Plan B while she can because the Prime Minister’s Plan A is heading for defeat and perhaps her Downing Street exit.

It increasingly appears the vote a week tomorrow on her Brexit deal is a matter of by how many MPs she loses, not whether she has a cat in hell’s chance of winning.

What happens next is anybody’s guess but we need some certainty or jobs, wages, services and our security will be jeopardised.

Mrs May is clinging on for dear life and Michael Gove’s declaration there is “absolutely” no way she would quit in defeat should be read alongside his prediction David Cameron would not resign if he lost the referendum.

Which Tory comes after May might be no improvement when what the country badly needs is a change of direction, fresh policies and a new Government.
