Tot’s nap on swing was sign of cancer
LITTLE Izzy Fletcher falls asleep on a swing in a cute snap, but sadly it held a sinister clue that she was seriously ill.
Parents Dave, 39, and Vicky, 37, were devastated weeks later when they learned the toddler had leukaemia and her sleepiness was a telltale symptom.
Dave took the picture at a park near the family home in Claines, Worcs.
He said: “I didn’t think much of it. I thought it was a cute moment. It was only afterwards we realised it was a sign of something more sinister.”
Izzy was diagnosed in January after developing a rash. She has since had chemo and is now on maintenance treatment while part of a clinical trial.
In recognition of her ordeal, the three-year-old has received a Cancer Research UK Kids & Teens Star Award.
