- FROM NEIL McLEMAN

ANDER HERRERA believes Wednesday’s clash with Arsenal is “like a final” with Manchester United in danger of falling out of the race for Champions League places before Christmas.

Two points from the last three games has seen the Reds slide to seventh place, 16 points behind leaders Manchester City.

And the midfielder said: “I know we’re far from the top four but we can’t go crazy now about the table.

“We just have to try to win every game. That’s how we will reach the top four. The only thing we can do is give everything on Wednesday against Arsenal and then Saturday against Fulham. We should approach the Arsenal game like a final.”

Herrera scored his first goal of the season to equalise before the break but United could not take that momentum into an anticlimactic second half.

“I think we did the most difficult thing and not the easiest thing which was kill the game at that moment,” said the Spaniard. “I think half-time came at the wrong time but it’s not an excuse. We were in a good moment and should have kept that energy.”

The midfielder did take consolation from the form of Romelu Lukaku, who ended a run of 12 games and 981 minutes without a goal for his club stretching back to September.

“He played a fantastic 60 minutes and scored, which is very important for the strikers,” said Herrera.

“I think we’re going to see the best Lukaku in the next games.”
