JAKE LIVERMORE is ready to welcome a Brentford side on the slide as West Brom continue their push for the Premier League.
The Baggies midfielder has his sights trained on a fourth consecutive win that would push them above Middlesbrough and into third place following Boro’s home defeat by Aston Villa on Saturday.
And he reckons it has taken collective spirit to battle through a difficult patch – including a 4-1 thumping by Derby at the Hawthorns – before taking nine points from the last three games against Leeds, Ipswich and Swansea.
Livermore (above) said: “We’ve had to change our style and adapt.
“Credit to the boys, staff and fans for collectively handling these last three games.
“It’s shown the intelligence of the group, of what we’re trying to build here.
“We’ve had a few different styles and we’ll probably have to come up with a few more before the end of the season if we’re to reach our goal.
“The games we lost weren’t through lack of trying, it was perhaps being out-thought and not being adaptable.
“Hopefully we’ve learned and we’ve got that now.”
Brentford have lost six of their last seven in the league and have slipped to 18th, just three points above the drop zone. That won’t get any easier by playing away from home tonight.
Livermore said: “I love it at the Hawthorns. We’ve got two home games coming up to look forward to.
“We can get our home crowd behind us and hopefully put on a show for them.
“We’re in the mix and have had some difficult games.
“The mood is good but we won’t be happy until we’re top at the end of the season.”
Brentford defender Chris Mepham warned: “We’re all aware we could be in a relegation battle.
”We’ve got to use this as a wake-up call.”
