New Doctor Who isn’t too PC, say stars
DOCTOR Who stars have dismissed fans’ criticism it is too politically correct, saying it is an “entertaining reminder” of the big issues.
The BBC hit has recently covered topics such as the civil rights movement and the 1947 partition of India.
Mandip Gill, 30, who stars as Yasmin, said: “How can you be too correct about something? You do see some extreme comments. But they’re creating conversation.”
Tosin Cole, 26, who plays Ryan, said it offers viewers “a friendly, entertaining reminder of these issues”. ■ Time Lord Jodie Whittaker, 36, is set to read a CBeebies Bedtime Story.
Following stars such as Sir Elton John and Tom Hardy, she will recite Ada Twist, Scientist by Andrea Beaty on Friday’s show.
