No immigration plan before vote
HOME Secretary Sajid Javid has warned MPs are “unlikely” to see the Government’s longawaited immigration plans before next week’s Brexit vote.
Theresa May hoped to publish tough new proposals to end free movement from 2021 in a bid to win over sceptical MPs. But she has clashed with Mr Javid over how long after Brexit the border should stay open for low-skilled workers.
Mr Javid told MPs he wanted to publish his plans in July but has now said: “It’s unlikely, actually very unlikely, to be published before the vote.”
