Shamed by UK hunger

-

HOW shaming that more than four million children are living in poverty in one of the world’s richest countries.

It is also heartbreaking but entirely avoidable as this is a political choice.

Child poverty is rising, after falling under the last Labour Government, because Tory austerity makes kids the collateral damage of breadline wages, holes punched in the welfare state and the rundown of public services.

This is an almighty scandal when the scars of poverty in early years will be felt throughout someone’s life.

So please support the Daily Mirror’s End Hunger, Feed a Family appeal this Christmas to raise money for the Trussell Trust network of foodbanks so no child goes hungry over the festive period.

Few of us would want to tuck into our own Christmas dinner knowing that in homes nearby innocent kids are going unfed.
