6ft tree just grew on us
A GIANT Christmas tree towers 52ft over a house and lights up an entire village – 40 years after it was planted as a sapling. Avril and Christopher Rowlands put the 6ft fir in their garden in 1978. Now a crane is needed to hang its 1,100 bulbs and it can be seen a mile away. Its annual switch-on has raised £10,000 for charity.
Avril, 73, of Inkberrow, and Christopher Worcs, joked: “I don’t look at the electricity bill till after Christmas.”
