Swear to the throne
Ooh-ER. The Queen turned the air blue at an awards ceremony over the weekend, effing and blinding throughout her speech.
Olivia Colman,
who takes over as Her Maj in the upcoming series of The Crown, took Best Actress at the British Independent Film Awards for playing another monarch.
“F***. Thank you,” she exclaimed as she took to the stage to receive the gong for her role as Queen Anne in The Favourite. Olivia admitted she had failed to write a speech in advance “because I am a d**k, and I am convinced that if you prepare something then you don’t win”.
She then berated herself publicly for the oversight. “F***ing a***hole,” she scolded.
“You never get bored of this,” Olivia added, composing herself. “It is a really amazing feeling.
“Thank you so much. This film was amazing and the whole process was incredible. This film was heaven and I felt bereft when it finished. I had such a beautiful time.”
Olivia had managed to maintain her composure while collecting the Best Supporting Actress award Rachel on behalf of Weisz
– wearing a mask of the actress – for the same film. But before she stepped down from her own acceptance speech, she had time to praise the movie awards, as well as independent film in general.
“It is f***ing marvellous,” the actress gushed.
