Newcastle sale talks

NEWCASTLE owner Mike Ashley has revealed he is close to finding a buyer for the club.

The Sports Direct tycoon says his talks to sell Toon are more advanced than ever.

It is 13 months since Ashley put Newcastle up for sale – asking around £325million.

He said: “What is the latest? I am hopeful for the Newcastle fans, for the club and for everyone I will be able to step aside and we will be able to get an owner in who will please everyone.

“I would like it to be before the January transfer window. We are not in exclusive talks, but they are more progressed than they have ever been.”
