EMOTIONS ran high as Mark Hughes said goodbye to his players before training, revealed Southampto­n caretakerb­oss Kelvin Davis.

Hughes’ assistants Mark Bowen and Eddie Niedzwieck­i were also did their goodbyes and moved on.

“It was a difficult moment for them.

“I sat in the room and felt their feelings were disappoint­ment and some emotion.
