MPs hit out at Grayling over chaos of new rail timetable
MPs have slammed Chris Grayling’s handling of last May’s timetable chaos on the railways.
An all-party committee said the Transport Secretary should have been more “proactive” in the crisis which caused misery for millions.
They added: “It is not reasonable for him to absolve himself completely of all responsibility.”
In the biggest timetable shake-up for a generation there were 43,200 changes affecting 46% of services.

However many routes in the North of England, London and the South were badly disrupted.
The Transport Select Committee said the worstaffected season ticket holders should get a discount next year.
MPs added that “swift reform” was needed to restore passengers’ trust and called for “automatic compensation schemes”.
Govia Thameslink boss Charles Horton quit but Mr Grayling told MPs: “I don’t run the railways.”
Mick Cash, general secretary of the RMT union, said: “This devastating report lays blame clearly on the fragmentation of our railways and with Chris Grayling.
“Passengers deserve his resignation.”
