Threat to EFL Cup

FOOTBALL LEAGUE bosses face a battle to save the Carabao Cup.

UEFA confirmed on Sunday they will launch a third European competition – Europa League II – from 2021 with one place going to an English club.

But the worry for the League Cup is that it would be a huge blow to the cup’s prestige.

An EFL spokesman said: “The EFL is in contact with the FA to fully understand the potential ramifications of the introduction of a second Europa League competition, and the impact they may or may not have on EFL competitions.”
