Coffee firm having a latte of success

-

Dear BIZ

You featured my mobile coffee business, Plot Coffee, based in Deptford, South London, earlier this year. I thought you might like to hear how we are getting on.

Firstly, a big thanks for your support and advice. The business is going well and we continue to get regular customers. And that means we are making enough money to be able to offer training for young people aged 16 to 24, who are disadvantaged and need a helping hand to get a job.

We are working with the Salvation Army and Lomand Coffee (also based in Deptford) to offer barista training for locals struggling to find work.

We have now done three courses and six of the young people we have trained now have jobs, which is fantastic.

The commercial side of the business, selling coffee and barista courses, provides the funds to help others who don’t have the funds to pay for training. Our local area is undergoing major development and we want locals to be part of this, rather than be pushed out by newcomers.

Thanks again for your support. Jed Harris, by email

Great to hear from you again Jed and we are delighted that your coffee business is doing well.

It’s also fantastic that you have managed to get your barista course up and running.

Well done on helping locals to get jobs – it’s tough and those less fortunate really do need an extra helping hand.

We love the coffee community you are creating in your area, working with other businesses to offer something very worthwhile.

Good luck with everything and keep in touch.
