LET’S PRIDE OUT THE STORM, DAVIS TELLS SAINTS

- BY ALEX CROOK

CARETAKER-BOSS Kelvin Davis has urged Southampton players to show more pride in the shirt.

Davis (right) will take charge of tonight’s trip to Tottenham following the sacking of manager Mark Hughes on Monday. The former Saints keeper, set to play a key role in the club’s new-look management team, said: “I’m expecting the players to be committed.

“Being a Southampton man, I expect all the players, starting or not starting, to give 100 per cent.

“Hopefully that is something that will rub off on them over the next couple of days.

“Southampton is my club and it is a place I have lived for 13 years and feel at home. It is not about psyching them up and making them too different. It is me trying to give a bit more personality to what I’m asking them to do.”
