They are the places to go for outstandin­g service, yet soaring online sales mean the high street has dwindled.

We aim to stop this in its tracks with the Mirror’s

High Street Fightback campaign. Research shows people are three times more likely to hit the high street in the festive season compared to other times of year.

And while many Christmas adverts from the likes of Amazon are tempting customers to head online, one

stands out from the crowd by standing up for the smallest of business that make Britain great.

We spoke to the proudly independen­t stars of the Visa ads to see how they remain at the heart of their high streets and why this Christmas is so important.
