Pupils’ dismay after ‘Santa’s not real’ gaffe

- BY LOUIE SMITH

UPSET Fleet Wood School PRIMARY school kids were left upset after a charity worker told them Father Christmas was not real and got pupils to smash up chocolate Santas and reindeer with hammers.

Emily Taylor, of the Mary Bass Christian charity, stunned young pupils with the assembly speech.

Angry parents said their children came home from school upset.

Mum Ella Bowring said: “My six-year-old said, ‘There is no such thing – Santa’s just a made up thing.’ To say I’m furious is an understatement.”

Fleet Wood Lane School, near Spalding, apologised and said it would not invite the charity again.

A charity spokesman said its trustees would be meeting “to discuss the situation”.
