Hangxiety of shy drinkers
VERY shy people suffer “hangxiety” if they drink too much as booze affects their level of nervousness.
A study of around 100 social drinkers found downing six units of alcohol at first made them slightly more confident.
But next day’s hangover caused a big rise in anxiety.
Prof Celia Morgan, of the University of Exeter, said: “These findings suggest hangxiety, in turn, might be linked to people’s chance of developing a problem with alcohol.”
