Big shot Denzel Washington is right on target in this stylish vigilante thriller sequel to his 2014 hit. It’s loosely based on Edward Woodward’s 1980s TV series, and the film gets a jolt whenever Washington is allowed off the leash to deploy his charisma and action moves.

He stars as the kind-hearted yet hardas-nails Robert McCall, a widowed Boston taxi driver and part-time globetrotting master of disguise.

When an undercover CIA agent dies in Brussels, McCall proves adept at decorating, sorting out the local hood and solving an international conspiracy.
