This long delayed version of Rudyard Kipling’s classic Indian adventure is a much darker trip to the jungle than Disney’s all-singing and dancing box office beast of 2016.

Although both feature a human actor playing off CGI talking animals, this is not a place where the cute survive.

The cast includes Naomie Harris, Cate Blanchett, Benedict Cumberbatch and Christian Bale. Rohan Chand makes a decent fist of the man-cub Mowgli who’s raised by wolves and hunted by Shere Khan, a tiger who’ll probably give your little ones nightmares.
