Teaming up with songwriting supremo Linda Perry and legend Mavis Staples for the dazzling Why, she mixes six originals with six rerecordings of past classics, partnering with Sia and the reliably lusty Elle King.

They’re well-matched foils for such old faves as Jolene, now sporting a sweet string quartet. It’s not seasonal but Dumplin’ is full of a festive kind of spirit.
