5 tips to keep you smoke-free at a Xmas get-together

-

1 When friends or family go outside for a cigarette, have an escape route planned. For example, call a friend or go to the loo to top up your make-up and break that routine of heading to the designated smoking spot.

2 It’s not the easiest time of year to regulate your alcohol intake, but given that booze is the number one reason people succumb to having a cigarette, it’s worth monitoring your drinking. Perhaps have a soft drink between glasses of your tipple to help keep your resolve. Your head might thank you for it too!

3 Rub a few drops of iced water into your wrists if you’re feeling jittery about wanting a cigarette – it’s known to reduce the temptation.

4 Where possible, stay close to non-smoking friends - that way you aren’t constantly being faced with cigarettes.

5 If you’re worried your willpower may break, take a smokefree alternative to cigarettes with you instead.

If you’re struggling to stay smokefree even after trying to quit using willpower and cessation products, look for smoke-free alternatives.
