Shock ‘killed raid woman’

TRAGEDY Maureen Whale A WOMAN who collapsed after her home was burgled could have died from shock, police said.

Maureen Whale, 77, passed out on the phone to police as the house was raided by two men while a third watched outside.

The former nurse, air hostess, medical secretary and librarian had lived all her life in a small cottage in Barnet, North London.

Det Chief Insp Noel McHugh said: “Her death is the consequenc­e of the burglary. It might be the shock that killed her.” A post mortem is being held.
