LAST year’s Triumph Hurdle winner Defi Du Seuil got his career back on track at Exeter yesterday.

Having failed to impress on debut over fences, the five-year-old warmed to his task as the race progressed and stamped his authority on a classy field under a confident Barry Geraghty ride.

Defi Du Seuil bounded clear from the final fence to win by three and a half lengths and is now 10-1 with Paddy Power for the JLT Novices’ Chase at the Cheltenham Festival.

“I’m over the moon to see him back towards his best, said winning trainer Philip Hobbs. “And there’s probably still improvement in his jumping.”
