Carer stole from blind women

A CARE worker has been jailed for steal­ing more than £8,500 from two blind women.

Michelle Chan­dler, 53, one of the vic­tims’ chief car­ers, ac­quired their bank cards and paid cash into her ac­count for two years.

She had worked for 12 years at Fore­sight Res­i­den­tial Home in Har­ro­gate, North Yorks, which cares for those with de­men­tia, learn­ing dif­fi­cul­ties, sen­sory im­pair­ment and epilepsy, York crown court heard.

Be­tween 2016 and Jan­uary this year she stole £3,681 from a woman, 52, deaf and blind since birth, and £4,870 from a blind woman of 38 with learn­ing dif­fi­cul­ties.

Chan­dler, of Har­ro­gate, was jailed for 20 months af­ter ad­mit­ting fraud.
