EU ref wasn’t ‘democratic’

THE Brexit vote was not democratic because of “corrupt and illegal practices”, the High Court heard yesterday.

Lawyers for the anti-Brexit UK in EU Challenge group said spending breaches by Leave groups rendered the vote invalid. The Electoral Commission fined Leave.EU for failing to report £77,380 it spent, while Vote Leave was fined for exceeding its £7million limit by funnelling £675,315 through pro-Brexit group Be Leave.
