HARLEE DEAN re-opened the spitting row with matchwinner Famara Diedhiou.

Senegal star Diedhiou, 25, bagged the only goal at St Andrew’s to end Birmingham’s 16-match unbeaten home run.

Bristol City boss Lee Johnson claimed it was ‘poetic justice’ that the £5.3million record signing scored after be was banned for six matches for spitting at David Davis the last time the sides met in April.

But Dean was having none of it.

“I was right next to it. He spat in Digga’s face (David Davis) and I don’t know about ‘justice’,” said the Blues defender.

“He deserved to get a six-match ban. If that wasn’t on a football pitch, he would have got a lot more than that.

“He scored a goal, that’s his job. I’m not going to comment on that anymore but

‘justice’.”

Diedhiou preferred to forget about the incident, saying: “It was the same opponents but it is forgotten now.”

To rub salt in the wound, Dean was beaten in the air by Diedhiou (top, celebrating) to Callum O’Dowda’s corner for the goal that I don’t think it was settled the game. Dean added: “I’m disappointed because it was my man but it was a great ball and I was tight as you like to him.

“I just could never get to it. I couldn’t wrap my head around his and I couldn’t be in front of him because if he pulled away from me on the back post and scored, then it would have been my fault. It was a combination of two things – a great ball and first contact.

“Maybe I could have held him more, I don’t know.”

Diedhiou is determined to use his head more after making it five goals for the season.

“I think that’s the third goal with my head, so I try to score as many headers as I can,” he said.

“I am a very important player so when I use my head, I try to score more goals.” Dean (above) wants to use the disappointment to build another unbeaten run.

He added: “Because of that run, we’ve got a lot more respect here and teams are coming and sitting in against us. That’s been unusual for me since I’ve been here. We have to go again now.”
