JOS LUHUKAY is not solely to blame for Sheffield Wednesday’s plight, according to Daniel Pudil.

There was a poisonous atmosphere at Hillsborough during and after this derby draw against a struggling Rotherham side unlucky not to win.

Chants of ‘we want Luhukay out’ and ‘you’re getting sacked in the morning’ rang around the famous old stadium from angry Wednesday fans.

Dutchman Luhukay refused to discuss his job prospects and blamed supporters for living in the past – which went down about as well as five points from the last 27. Fans are openly calling for Steve Bruce or Slavisa Jokanovic to replace Luhukay, and recent play-off campaigns seem light years away.

But Wednesday’s Czech Republic international Pudil said: “It is too easy to blame only the manager for the results and performances. It is about the players as well. He is an easy target to blame. I hope the manager keeps his job. He is not the only one responsible.”

Lucas Joao (above) scored first and then last – teed up by Pudil – and in between the Millers levelled through Michael Smith and then took the lead when Cameron Dawson fumbled Richie Towell’s shot. Rotherham boss Paul Warne admitted predators may be targeting 27-year-old striker Smith, who terrorised the Wednesday defence all afternoon.

Warne said: “Many people doubted Smithy when I brought him to the club. But he was excellent and is some player for us. I hope people are noticing Smithy but he is the chairman’s favourite player so they’d have to bid a lot to get him.”
