LAYLA, I’m bidding darling, please... Eric Clapton’s handwritten lyrics for hit song Layla are set to fetch up to £45,000 at auction.

The words in red ballpoint pen are on headed notepaper from a motel in Miami Beach, Florida.

The 1970 song is about British guitar legend Eric’s love for future wife Pattie Boyd – married at the time to his pal George Harrison.

It was recorded by Eric’s band Derek and the Dominos. Today’s auction is at Bonhams in London.
