A FAMILY XMAS – NOW YOU’RE STORKING

-

SUCCESS Rob, Sarah and Teddy Sarah and Rob Capps are preparing for the Christmas they thought they may never see — their first as a family.

Their longed-for baby Teddy turns five months on Christmas Eve, but Sarah, a 33-year-old events assistant admits: “We still can’t believe we’ve got him. It’s crazy to think he’s here because of a device that came out of a box.”

Sarah had been due to start NHS IVF treatment in January, and had already been shown how to inject herself with drugs to stimulate her ovaries.

“We were so grateful to be offered IVF on the NHS, but I was still very worried. You have to schedule your whole life around treatment and I was worried about what those drugs might do later on in life.”

Looking online, Sarah came across The Stork conception aid. She says: ”It’s a little bit like intra-uterine insemination, which we were offered on the NHS. But there are no drugs and you can do it at home — so we thought, ‘what have we got to lose?’”

Teddy was conceived on their third attempt with The Stork – and last December, after almost three years of heartache, the couple could finally tell their families that Sarah was pregnant.

“On Christmas Day we gave my mum a box from The Bump with a little card saying: ‘To Nana, I am only six weeks old, but I love you more than anything and I can’t wait to meet you’,” says Sarah of Bishop’s Itchington in Warwickshire. “I can’t believe this time last year I was pregnant, and this year we will be celebrating the Christmas we have always wanted.

“This time of year used to be so difficult – now we really have something to celebrate.” ■ You can buy the Stork from Boots, Lloyds Pharmacy and Superdrug or at thestorkconception.co.uk
