ONLINE LOVE TOLD ME SHE’S TRANSGENDER

-

Dear Coleen

I’ve been chatting to a gorgeous girl via a website for a few weeks now. We’ve sent each other photographs and emails, too. I just can’t stop thinking about her.

The other day, though, she dropped a bit of a bombshell in that she admitted she’s transgender. The thing is, instead of being annoyed that she’d hidden this from me, I just fancy her even more.

I’m confused, though – does this mean I’m gay? I’m not attracted to guys at all, but she just really does it for me.

Coleen says

No, I don’t think it means you’re gay, I think it means you’ve fallen for a person. You’ve built up a relationship through talking and finding out about each other. If you really like her and want to see her, then that’s the next step.

As with all relationships (irrespective of gender issues) that start online, I think you have to be careful because the fantasy might not match the reality when you do meet. You might find you don’t gel in person.

But you won’t know until you meet her whether you can have a relationship or not. So I’d just keep an open mind and see how things develop for you.
