Miss thanking Mum and Dad
IT’S only when it’s too late and they’ve gone and there’s nothing you can do, you regret not being closer to your parents.
I wish I had been able to talk more frankly to my mother and father – and thank them.
Annie, a lifelong housewife, kept the home going while Harry was at war – till he came back harder and more disciplined.
They saw me marry, have children and get on in life, but I never used that space to say the things I should have said.
And now, 75 today, it’s my greatest regret.
