Kate: It’s my privilege to help children’s hospital
THE Duchess of Cambridge delivers the perfect tonic as she becomes patron of a top children’s hospital.
Kate, 36, said her role would mean staff at Evelina London, in Westminster, “get the recognition they deserve”.
In a speech before unveiling a banner to mark its 150th anniversary, she said: “The staff do an amazing job. Early years is such a big part of that work I am really interested in so it’s a real privilege to be part of this organisation.” The hospital sees more than 30,000 children as day or inpatients with 100,000 outpatients appointments made each year.
Director Marian Ridley said: “We are delighted the Duchess has agreed to become a patron. We see it as a perfect alignment between her personal interests in the care of young children and young people’s development.”
