- BY RUKI SAYID Consumer Editor

LOTTERY Broadband varies HOMES have broadband speeds 2,000 times slower than ones 60 miles away.

The UK average is 46.2 megabits per second but a quarter of homes have less than 10, a study also found.

The slowest, 0.14Mbps, is in a street in Bamfurlong, Glos, where downloading a two-hour HD film takes 102 hours.

The quickest is in Birmingham, 265.89Mbps, where it would be ready to view in four minutes.

Dani Warner, of comparrison site uSwitch which did the survey, said the digital divide is a “postcode lottery” and 102 hours to download a film was “almost comical”.

She added that nearby streets can be “light years apart when it comes to download speeds”.
