Ex-steel stop rail’s quietest

- Mirrornews@ mirror.co.uk @DailyMirror

A TRAIN station serving an axed steelworks is the UK’s least used with just 40 passengers in the past year.

Redcar British Steel, next to the site in North Yorkshire that closed in 2015, has four trains a day.

It takes over from Barry Links, Angus, which had just 24 passengers in 2017. But numbers shot up to 52 this year as rail enthusiasts visited the stop.

London Waterloo was the busiest station for the 15th year in a row, with 94.4 million passengers.
