Sacked DWP worker’s £38k

-

A JOBCENTRE worker unfairly dismissed for tweets about Donald Trump and far-right activist Tommy Robinson has been awarded £38,000 in compensation.

Ayub Patel, 58, would have won more but his “too political” comments broke the Civil Service code.

The Muslim, a Department of Work and Pensions worker for 25 years, told a tribunal in October his tweets were aimed at Islamophobic public figures.

He was found to have had a “genuine misunderstanding” about his social media responsibilities while helping jobseekers find work in Blackburn. Bids to have him reinstated have been rejected.
