Waiting lists soar across NHS

NHS waiting lists for a host of health conditions have more than doubled thanks to Tory cuts, research shows.

The worst area is thoracic medicine, which deals with chest and lung diseases. There was a 128% rise over the past seven years, government figures reveal.

Shadow Health and Social Care Secretary Jonathan Ashworth said: “These are staggering increases.”

The Department of Health and Social Care said: “We’re investing an extra £20.5billion a year to safeguard the service through the NHS Long Term Plan.”
