Son accused of killing mum in care home
A WOMAN’S son has appeared in court accused of murdering her.
June Knight, 79, was being treated at a care home for end-stage Alzheimer’s and was found dead by staff after falling from a balcony.
Robert Knight, 52, spoke only to confirm his name, age and address when he appeared before Southend magistrates.
Prosecutor Crystal Penrose said: “The defendant is her only son and regularly visited her, sometimes twice a day.”
Mrs Knight died on Monday at Langley Lodge, in Westcliffe-on-Sea, Essex. Knight, of Leigh-on-Sea, did not enter a plea.
Knight was remanded in custody and will appear at Chelmsford crown court by video link today.
