Drink-drive limit change alarm
CUTTING the drink-drive limit has not made a dent in the number of road accidents in Scotland, figures reveal.
Scotland cut its limit from 80mg to 50mg per 100ml of blood in 2014.
But statistics show the number of fatalities and serious injuries through drink- driving has not changed. England and Wales – which still have an 80mg limit – are considering following Scotland’s lead.
Researchers at Glasgow University called the result “unexpected” as it went against previous surveys. They also blamed a lack of enforcement of the law change.
