Fury at farm ‘sexist’ bash
Ex-champ on crash scene as US city marshal
WOMEN in farming have called on organisers of a “sexist” men-only awards dinner to let them attend.
The Dartmouth Fatstock Show evening event is after the annual livestock competition in Devon.
The committee recently voted to keep women out.
Chairman Phil Bond said after the latest event, held at a hotel on Tuesday: “That’s the tradition.”
Prize-winning farmer Chloe Quantick said: “They need to stop being a bit sexist and let us in there.” Eubank at the Louisiana crash
BOXING legend Chris Eubank goes on patrol in the US – but still wears his trademark bow tie.
The ex-world super middleweight champion, 52, has been sworn in as a city marshal and attended a car crash in Opelousas, Louisiana.
He posted a video of himself and said: “Sergeant Eubank proudly on duty in Louisiana. All warriors protect and serve, whether one wears a badge or not.
“This crash doesn’t look too bad, no injuries but I don’t have a raincoat like the rest. Training day and it’s raining.”
A woman involved in the accident told him: “I’ve never seen a cop in a bow tie before.” He replied: “Yes, yes.” Louisiana city marshals are court officials with the power to enforce court orders – though there is no marshal rank of sergeant.
Unlike police officers they only have the power to arrest when a defendant has an outstanding warrant.
Eubank, recently lecturing on peace in the US, has had run-ins with the law in the UK, including a conviction for taking With prang victim a beer lorry without consent in 2005. But he was cleared of aggravated vehicle taking and got an absolute discharge.
Two years later he was fined for parking his American truck near Downing Street as part of a protest against the military occupation of Iraq.
